I was looking for a writing contest to enter in and I found a great one. Scholastic has a contest, “Kids Are Authors”, for kids grades K-8. If you win this contest, your book gets published and sold at Scholastic Book Fairs across the country! There are a few rules….
They must be written in groups of 3 or more. There must also be a Project Coordinator, who is a responsible adult who supervises and makes sure that the story fits in with the rules and regulations. This person can give constructive criticism and general guidance.
Only 2 books out of all entries are chosen. One fiction, one nonfiction.
Employees of Scholastic Book Fairs®, and its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising and promotion agencies involved in this Contest, and their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each, are not eligible to enter.
All entries must be in picture book format. Each entry, whether fiction or nonfiction, must be pictures books from 21-29 pages. Artwork and text MUST be original and generated by your group; previously published works that are included will not be accepted. Artwork and text should be sent separately, and pages should not be bound. Based on your design, use either 8 ½” x 11″ or 9″ x 12″ paper for artwork. Pop-ups are not accepted, and the only computer-generated images allowed are the ones that you and your group create. No clipart or newspaper print.
More information is on the link. At the bottom are a few links to guide you if you have more questions. You might want to check out the rules listed there under Official Rules (I might’ve missed something that I didn’t see several times–probably did).
NOTE: This is the FINAL year that this is open. Due date listed on website, sometime in 2016.
If you decide to enter, good luck! 😀
